Neil Fichthorn has been in conference and camp work for 35 years. He worked in a variety of positions as a staff member at Pinebrook Bible Conference with Percy Crawford in the late 50’s and early 60’s. From there he went to Ocean City (NJ) Bible Conference for two summers. - In 1968 he went to Sandy Cove Bible Conference in MD for two summers before joining the full-time staff. Between 1970 and 1985 he held a wide variety of responsibilities including marketing, staff director, summer staff director, music director, daily radio host and technician, programming director, and was eventually Vice President for Public Ministries.
- In 1985 he was called to Gull Lake Bible and Missionary Conference (in MichiganI) as President and CEO. This conference had an outstanding teen program running concurrently with the adult program on the site. It’s uniqueness was family cottages and a program for the entire family.
- In 1990 Neil was called back to Sandy Cove as President and CEO. It was one of the dark periods in the history of the conference because they had built a 153 room hotel and were in deep financial debt. The amount of the debt was greater than the annual budget and the bank was threatening foreclosure.
- Within six years the debt was completely repaid and another more than $2,000,000 was spent in upgrading the rest of the property. Occupancy nearly doubled, the summer child-care program quadrupled and a new camp for kids (Camp Sandy Cove for Kids) took on a new look and huge success.
- From 1994-2000 Neil served as President-elect, President/Chairman of the Board (the terminology was changed) and Past Chairman of the Board for Christian Camping International/USA.
- In January, 2000 Neil retired and began Neil Fichthorn Associates.
